Autumn is here – and with the change of season, a list of new titles from our speakers to spice up your month.

October 2nd marks the publication of Will Schwalbe’s The End of Your Life Book Club, a profound tale of love and loss about a son and his mother who start a bookclub that brings them together while her life comes to an end. The paperback edition of Dan Chaon’s haunting and suspenseful Stay Awake also hist bookshelves on October 2nd.

Calling all young readers! Patricia Reilly Giff’s latest title in her wildly popular Zigzag Kids series, Sky High, comes out October 9th, along with Kadir Nelson’s picture book, I Have a Dream. In it, Martin Luther King’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech is paired with the Caldecott Honor winner’s stunning paintings.

On October 12th, from Nobel Prize-winner Orhan Pamuk, comes Silent House. Never before published in English, Pamuk’s novel is the story of a Turkish family gathering held in the shadow of the impending military coup of 1980. New in paperback on October 16th is Karin Slaughter’s Fallen, heralded by the Associated Press as her “best book to date.”

For aspiring chefs are two cookbooks out this month. On October 24th, Lidia Bastianich and Tanya Bastianich Manuali present Lidia’s Favorite Recipes, full of the best dishes in Lidia’s repertoire. From Deb Perelman, founder of the award-winning blog Smitten Kitchen, is her long-awaited The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook, available on October 31st – an ode to her approachable, uncompromised home cooking.

On October 23rd, multi-talented biographer Edmund Morris presents This Living Hand, which chronicles famous personalities such as Henry Adams and Mark Twain. Just in time for the film premiere, the movie tie-in edition of Yann Martel’s classic, The Life of Pi, will also be released on the 23rd.

Yann Martel’s 101 Letters to a Prime Minister is also out in paperback on October 30th, along with Pulitzer Prize-winner Richard Russo’s memoir, Elsewhere, an arresting, comic, heartbreaking account of his life, his parents, and the upstate New York town they struggle to escape.
