The Tiger’s Wife and Swamplandia! Honored by American Library Association
We are excited to congratulate speakers Téa Obreht and Karen Russell, recipients of American Library Association awards at the just-conducted Midwinter meeting. Both Obreht and Russell were bestowed the American Library Association’s award for Notable Adult Titles in fiction, for their acclaimed novels, The Tiger’s Wife, and Swamplandia!
These ALA honors add to the growing list of accolades for The Tiger’s Wife and Swamplandia! Both novels were short-listed by The New York Times as two of the “10 Best Books of 2011.” National Book Award finalist The Tiger’s Wife was named one of the best books of the year by The Wall Street Journal and Publisher’s Weekly, while Russell’s bestselling debut-novel Swamplandia! was a NPR pick for its “10 Best Novels of 2011.”
