Random House Speakers Top “Best of the Year” Lists!
We are thrilled to announce that several of our speakers have been recognized by numerous “Best of the Year” Lists.
Swamplandia!, by our newest speaker Karen Russell, was chosen by The New York Times as one of the “10 Best Books of 2011,” and by NPR as one of the “10 Best Novels of 2011.” National Book award nominee The Tiger’s Wife by Téa Obreht was also short-listed.
Fellow National Book Award nominee, The Buddha in the Attic by Julie Otsuka was honored as one of The New York Times’ “100 Notable Books of 2011.” Erik Larson’s In the Garden of Beasts also made the list, in addition to being named “The Most Important Book of 2011” by Oprah.com.
Among The Washington Post’s picks for “Notable Fiction of 2011” are Maine by J. Courtney Sullivan, Conquistadora by Esmeralda Santiago and Fallen by Karin Slaughter. Newsweek / The Daily Beast writers picked John Prendergast’s Unlikely Brothers and Jennifer Egan’s A Visit from the Goon Squad as two of their “Favorite Books of 2011.”
